Build Muscle without Weights

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

It is possible to build muscle and get in great shape and never set foot in a gym or put out hundreds of dollars for futuristic workout machines. Traditional exercises and cardio training can get you in the shape you want to be in.

A typical non-weight lifting workout should contain three elements; first do 15 minutes of full-body stretching. Touch your toes and hold it, do hurdler’s stretches and windmills. All those good old-fashioned exercises everyone but the military has forgotten about. Next, go into body resistance and body lifting exercises such as push-ups, pull-ups, scissor kicks, and sit-ups. Start small and work your way up to doing these at a four-count and a minimum of 20 repetitions building muscle until near muscle failure. Finally, take a run; you should work yourself up to a minimum of a three-mile run with a target time of 20-22 minutes.

Though not fancy, this exercise routine will shape and strengthen you as well as any gym or fitness center; and you can do it in and around your home.
